The Hult DNA

Hult Scholars are young leaders who embody the Hult DNA of:

  • Entrepreneurial – Problem solvers who create an environment where nothing seems impossible

  • Growth-oriented – Agile thinkers who adjust quickly to new challenges and constantly seek development

  • Leadership-driven – Learners who take ownership of challenges and their own learning

Hult International Business School is helping to remove financial barriers to the brightest minds through the Hult Scholar Grant – a full scholarship to one of the world’s top-ranked international colleges.

When Vedika Sinha dreamed about her future, it was one full of ambition and broad horizons. Growing up in Patna, India, Vedika knew from the tender age of 11 that she wanted to travel and study finance in another country – despite no one in her family having ever been abroad.

Speaking from Hult International Business School's London campus where she is studying for a bachelor's degree in business administration, Vedika reflected on those memories with a seemingly unshakable smile, full of enthusiasm and pride at where she finds herself today.

But fulfilling that dream may not have been possible for Vedika and dozens of students like her without the support of the Hult Scholar Grant. Launched in 2020, the Hult Scholar Grant aims to give bright minds like Vedika the chance to study at one of the world’s top-ranked international colleges.

“The grant is an opportunity for students coming from higher financial need backgrounds to access high quality education, career resources, and valuable networking opportunities”, said Kristina Skotte, Student Development Coach at Hult.

“It is an opportunity for students from all over the world to study at Hult, regardless of their financial background.”

Bold dreamers

Vedika first heard about Hult International Business School in 2018, when she met a former student at an event close to her home. She was immediately inspired by the idea of moving to London to study finance and business.

“When I heard about Hult International Business School, I knew immediately it was the perfect fit for me”, Vedika explained. “In India there’s a heavy emphasis on textbook learning – that if you can memorize a textbook, you are a good student. I don’t believe in that. I wanted to go to a school where critical thinking and practical learning was the priority.”

Flying high: Vedika settling in to life at Hult's London campus.

Unfortunately, the cost of moving to London to study at Hult would have been too great for her family to bear. But when Vedika learned about the Hult Scholar Grant, she took a gap year to work on her skills and knowledge, taking courses in sustainability and finance. In doing so, she hoped to set herself up with the best possible chance of earning the scholarship.

Then, on March 26, 2024, she got the call: She had received a full scholarship. She beamed as she recalled the day:

“It was magical. I had my parents next to me. My mom started crying. And that day wasn’t just special because I got the scholarship, but because I could see the pride on my parents’ faces, and it was the first time I had seen my parents hug in front of me.”

Knowledge beyond their years

Vedika is in her first full year of study at Hult, and already gaining the life-changing skills Hult provides every student. Despite being a freshman, she’s already featured on the Dean’s List.

As Vedika begins her Hult journey, Melanie Lang – a fellow Grant recipient – is nearing her graduation and can attest to the benefit of receiving the Hult Scholar Grant. Having already traveled with EF on an EF High School Exchange Year experience, Melanie has been passionate about travel and gaining a global perspective for as long as she can remember.

As soon as she returned home to Germany from her exchange in the U.S, she discovered Hult International Business School. After three years, she said she has acquired experience few others have, giving her a head-start in her career.

Right: Making friends has been one of the highlights of Melanie's Hult experience.

“I always knew I wanted to combine my career with travel”, Melanie said. “Hult helped shape my interest in business and finance, and with the Hult experience I got lots of internship opportunities during summer break.

“Last year – I still can’t believe this – I got an internship in investments with Citi bank, which is huge. I consider receiving the Hult Scholar Grant and getting this internship as my two biggest achievements in my life so far.”

Endless opportunity

Despite any obstacles they might have faced, both Vedika and Melanie are flourishing at Hult, which Kristina Skotte said is a huge part of the impact of the Hult Scholar Grant.

“Our Hult Scholar Grant students are our super stars on campus – they consistently shine when it comes to academic achievements, student awards, and student leadership positions. I know that these students will go on to be incredible global leaders and it is a privilege to be a part of their Hult journey.”

Hult International Business School has a goal of granting full tuition to up to 10% of incoming undergraduate students, reflecting Hult’s commitment to supporting some of the brightest minds achieve their full potential. Students at Hult can study at campuses in the UK, U.S, and Dubai.
