Efekta, an AI-native spinout from EF, partners with school systems that are facing teacher shortages. In many countries, educators are asked to teach subjects such as English, mathematics, and science without specialist training because there are simply not enough qualified teachers. The result is a difficult cycle: students struggle to make progress, while teachers become increasingly overstretched. Efekta helps address this challenge through an AI-powered teaching and learning platform designed to support both educators and learners.
The need for more personalized support is especially clear in language education. Like students everywhere, young people in Brazil learn at different speeds. Those who grasp new concepts quickly may have to wait for the rest of the class, while students who need more time can feel pressured or fall behind. A more adaptive approach allows each learner to progress at an appropriate pace while giving teachers better tools to support the entire classroom.
To strengthen English-language education in Brazil, Efekta Education launched an innovative partnership with the state of Paraná in 2022. Efekta has since expanded the program to Mato Grosso, São Paulo, Goiás, Mato Grosso do Sul, and Rondônia. Through these partnerships, students and teachers use the Efekta platform together, improving the learning experience while building teachers’ skills and confidence.
The results are reflected clearly in the data. In a state-administered English assessment involving 750,000 students in Paraná, learners using Efekta improved their scores by 32.5% over two years.
